This post should have been put up the first of November before all the photographs of Budapest, as an explanation of what was to come.
But here it is. Craig and I traveled to Munich on October 13 and from there we drove to Budapest, where we spent a very full day. We headed northeast to Slovakia for three days to visit my cousins. This was our third visit to Slovakia over the past 13 years.
We returned the car to Munich, then flew to Dubai to visit Bridget and her family. So that is why I have posted about Budapest, and posts are to come on Slovakia and Dubai. Even though it will be out of order I'll cover Dubai first.
Bridget's family lives in a brand-new townhouse on the campus of the American University of Sharjah where Jeremy is a professor of Arabic. The place has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a spacious living/dining area, a modern American-style kitchen, and tons of storage and closets. The girls have a playroom under the grand staircase. The backyard is small and yet to be landscaped. Their neighbors have come from all over the world--from Tunisia to Bosnia to Sudan--to work at the university. Miriam attends kindergarten at the British school on campus. Just around the corner is a large playground. Jeremy has a five-minute walk to work.

This is the Palmer's townhouse and new car in the photo. Below that is Meme on her way to school on a foggy morning.
Majd likes to come along on the walk to pick up Meme from school.
