Few airports in the US have carpeted floors, and I know of no other airport carpet, aside from dear old Portland International Airport carpet, that has its own website and Facebook page and online store. Yeah. You can buy t-shirts, pillows, posters and shopping bags festooned with the PDX carpet pattern.
We Oregonians love our PDX carpet. We know we're home sweet home when our feet grace the familiar and the welcoming aqua greenish carpet splashed with the airport runway design. Who the heck tweets about their airport carpet, or blogs about it? Oregonians do!

Sadly, PDX carpet has reached the end of its useful life and will be replaced within a few months. It has reached the ripe old age of 27 years. Look below for a sneak preview of "son of PDX carpet." The colors are familiar, and it still has the spirit of the old carpet about it. I think we'll get used to it and down the road it will be just as near and dear to our hearts as the original version. Out with the old, in with the new!
